New weather maps show freezing temperatures are headed for the UK – and could plummet to as low as -12C in some areas.
Data from WXCHARTS show that at midnight on Saturday (January 11), the UK could be hit by low temperatures of around -5C to -10C.
By 6am, some parts of Scotland will see -12C, which is the coldest forecasted in any part of the UK over the weekend.
At 9am, the south of England will experience temperature lows of 0C with the warmest areas being most of Cornwall, parts of Wales and Norwich.
Towards the Midlands and the north, most places will see temperatures of between 0C and -10C with the north of England seeing the colder side of this.
Large parts of Scotland could see -10C or lower, particularly in the north.
This comes after snow has ravaged the UK this week causing disruption to schools, roads, trains and flights.
Wintery conditions have taken hold of the UK as 2025 has begun, with chilly temperatures, snow and ice hammering Britain.
The snow and freezing temperatures has seen the Met Office issue a series of weather warnings this week.
The Met Office weather forecast for today says: “Cold start to Friday with sunny spells and the odd wintry shower in the north and west.
“Rain, sleet and hill snow move into the southwest, leading to icy stretches.”
But this isn’t the only cold weather Brits will experience this month as a second wave of snow is set to hit the UK later in January.
Latest maps from WXCHARTS show on January 23 at 6am, snow will hit Scotland, the north of England, parts of Wales and some of the south coast.
Some parts of Scotland will see up to 25cm of snow with most parts of England seeing 5cm or less of snowfall.
On January 24, at 6am, the same areas will likely see snowfall.
