A full list of the areas expected to suffer icy temperatures and flurries of snow this weekend has been released by the Met Office as the UK feels the chill.
Throughout Sunday, January 14 and Monday, January 15, a yellow weather warning applies, and Brits have been advised to brace for the cold.
As temperatures fall the Met Office has warned that travel disruption and icy surfaces are likely, causing chaos for ordinary people.
Outlining the danger, the Met Office went on to elaborate that trains, buses, and cars would be the modes of travel most significantly affected by the Arctic conditions.
Meteorologists also raised the possibility of icy pavements and cycling paths, alerting people to injuries from slips and falls.
They wrote: “Through the second half of Saturday night, showers will fall as a mixture of rain at low levels and snow over higher ground, but present a chance of ice developing at all elevations.
“Frequent showers will increasingly fall as snow to lower levels during Sunday.”
The Met Office added: “Whilst accumulations will vary due to the nature of showers, some places may see 2-5 cm by the end of Sunday.”
Overnight temperatures are expected to drop across the nation as the cold snap bites, with some areas of Northern England and Scotland reaching temperatures as low as -10C.
Currently, the snow warnings are only in place in Scotland and Northern Ireland
Northern Scotland is affected throughout both Sunday and Monday and is reportedly expecting up to 10cm of snowfall in high-sitting areas.
Meanwhile, Northern Ireland’s warning applies from 3.00am until midnight on Monday.
As for staying safe in the colder weather, it is important to plan before you travel. Planning your routes, leaving early, and checking for delays on either roads or public transport is crucial, according to the Met Office.
