Millions across the UK are forecast to be battered by a massive wall of snow as a Polar freeze prepares to hit the country, according to one forecast. WXCHARTS weather maps for Saturday March 29 and Sunday March 30 have turned purple and white indicating that snow is on its way.
The latest weather maps indicate that a whopping 23 UK cities could draw back the curtains and uncover depths of snow. North Yorkshire and Country Durham are predicted to see the worst of the snowfall with seven centimetres of snow falling every hour on the morning of March 29. The majority of the Northwest, Yorkshire and the Humber, and Northeast will also see heavy snow, with three centimetres per hour predicted.
Parts of the east and west Midlands will also see snow with two centremetres every hour likely.
Scotland is likely to be covered by a wall of snow. The Highlands alongside Argyll and Bute are forecast to see the worst of the wintry weather with snow depths estimated to reach three centimetres
Aberdeenshire, Stirling, Perth and Kinross, Fife, Angus and Moray all predicted one centimetre of snow at 6am.

And the brutal conditions show no sign of easing off as we go into March 30. The North west, Perth and Kinross, Scottish Highlands and Angus are all likely to see snowfall.
Temperatures will also take a nosedive, in many areas across the UK the mercury will struggle to rise above an icy 0C.
The minimum temperature in Scotland, the North west and North east will be a bone chilling -1C, maximum temperatures are only likely to reach a miserable 1C.
South and North Wales will see lows of 1C whilst West Wales experience ever so slightly warmer temperatures of 2C.
London, East of England and the South West may escape the snow but they will not escape the icy conditions with the mercury only likely to reach between 3C-4C.
Seperately, in the Met Office’s weather outlook for this period the forecaster is warning that “unsettled conditions” are likely for many parts of the UK.
