UK snow latest: New weather maps show snow blitz to arrive in Britain in mere hours


New horror weather maps show a snow blitz coming to Britain’s shores overnight.

WXCharts has forecast show and rain to smash into the UK tomorrow (March 23), with low temperatures coming with the wintery weather.

Snow will be heaviest in west Scotland (Fort William, Glasgow, Dumfries) but will also stretch over to the centre of the country (Edinburgh, Inverness).

It will also likely fall over the west coast of England (Liverpool, Lancaster, the Lake District, Carlisle) and much of Wales and Northern Ireland.

Rain will follow behind the snow, covering most of the west of England and Scotland (Plymouth, Liverpool, Dumfries) as well as all of Wales and Northern Ireland.

Temperatures will drop as low as 0C in central Scotland (Aberdeen to Fort William). It will be around 2C in north and south Scotland (Wick, Inverness Edinburgh, Dumfries).

North England (Newcastle, Middlesbrough, Lancaster) will see temperatures of between 0C and 2C. Northern Ireland and Wales will sit between 1C and 3C.

The Midlands (Birmingham, Manchester, Norwich) and the south of England (Plymouth, Southampton, Canterbury) will be between 2C and 4C.

Tonight:

Showers continuing overnight in the north and west, remaining wintry over the hills. A rather windy and chilly feeling night for all with a frost possible in sheltered spots.

Saturday:

A rather windy and cold feeling day for many with a mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers. The showers heavy and wintry over hills in the north.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Sunny spells and blustery showers on Sunday, heavy and possibly wintry at first over hills, but fading through the day. Becoming unsettled again for Monday and Tuesday with further rain.
