UK hot weather maps turn orange as exact date 20C blast will hit Britain revealed

The UK is to be hit by a spell of warm weather in the coming weeks according to new weather maps.

Forecasters from WXCharts say the UK will begin to warm up for the summer on May 5 and 6 with East Anglia and the sound east of England seeing the best of the weather.

The Met Office said temperatures should start going up by about 1C week-by-week with the mercury a “little above average” at this time.

However, before things start to warm up, the national forecaster has predicted a low-pressure weather system at the end of the week with harsh conditions hitting the north of England towards the end of the week, before the bulk rain and potentially snow falls on Sunday.

Rain is forecast to hit at midday on Saturday mainly affecting Northern Ireland, Wales, the north west of England, and the west of Scotland.

By midday on Sunday, the eye of the low-pressure system is projected to be directly between Northern Ireland and Scotland, which could see huge amounts of snow hit, with more than 4cm of snowfall per hour forecast in the middle of Scotland.

But long-range predictions of snow should be taken lightly as the Met Office says it is extremely difficult to forecast snow more than two days ahead.

James Madden from Exacta Weather told The Mirror he believes conditions will remain cool this weekend, after which there are signs of a gradual upward trend in temperatures into May.

He said: “Following on from this will see high pressure and more settled weather finally beginning to take hold; however, it is still likely to be on the cool side to begin with, and before temperatures start to finally warm up significantly during the final third of April and into early May.

“It is within this period that we could see maximum temperatures ranging in the mid to high 20s, at the very least for the first time this year and over a sustained time period.”

As next week continues, the Met Office says the south of England will begin to see sunny spells, while drizzle will persist until Wednesday.
