Meanwhile on February 12 at 6am, most of Scotland appears set for a heavier downpour of snow. However, the heaviest snowfall looks like it could be in the northernmost part of England all the down to the Yorkshire Dales.
As the month progresses, the area of the country covered in snow is predicted to be bigger. WX Charts radar shows a wall of snow starting in the Home Counties south of London, stretching through the Midlands, northern England and into Scotland. The heaviest snowfall appears likely to be in Cumbria.
There are also potentially going to be light patches in the south west around Plymouth as well as in the Scottish Highlands.
According to Netweather forecaster Ian Simpson, next week is set to bring much colder conditions.
He said: “As colder air pushes in from the north through Friday and Saturday, there is potential for this to turn to snow on the northern flank, mainly on high ground, but potentially to low levels as well, depending on how quickly the cold air comes down from the north.
“There is potential for the rain to reach Northern Ireland, but probably only the south of the region. For Scotland, it looks set to remain cold and bright, with an increasing chance of snow showers in the north and east of Scotland.”
