Police are investigating after two newborns were found dead in a bathroom at a Chicago day care Thursday night.
According to a statement from the Chicago Police Department, just before 7 p.m. local time officers responded to a call to assist EMS at a child care center in Streeterville, a neighborhood in the city’s Near North Side.
Police said they found the babies after a witness at the scene discovered two female newborns unresponsive inside a bathroom.
Both newborns were taken to Lurie Children’s Hospital where they were both pronounced dead, police said.

Investigation continues
Police said no arrest had been made in the case, which remained under investigation by detectives.
As of Friday morning, few details had been released about the case including the newborn’s identities or exact age.
