Donald Trump has launched a furious attack on Democrats as Americans head to the polls in the crucial Midterm elections, accusing one candidate of supporting the “transgender mutilization” of children. The US President unleashed the extraordinary broadside on Truth Social on Tuesday as he urged voters in Iowa to back Republican Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks. Trump threw his weight behind the Republican, who is fighting to retain her seat in Iowa’s 1st Congressional District, while launching a blistering attack on her Democratic opponent, Christina Bohannan. In a lengthy post, Trump described Ms Miller-Meeks as an “incredibly strong advocate” for the people of the district and praised her background as a doctor and US Army veteran.
He said: “A distinguished Medical Doctor and U.S. Army Veteran, Mariannette knows the America First Policies required to Defend our Country, Support our Brave Military/Veterans, and Ensure PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH.”
Trump went on to claim the Republican was working to grow the US economy, cut taxes and regulations, support farmers and ranchers, boost American manufacturing and energy production, secure the border and defend the Second Amendment.
But the President then turned his fire on Ms Bohannan, branding her a “Radical Left Democrat”.
Trump claimed she opposed his “NO TAX ON TIPS, NO TAX ON OVERTIME, and NO TAX ON SOCIAL SECURITY” policies and warned they would be “terminated” if Democrats returned to power.
He then escalated his attack, claiming: “She wants massive Tax Increases, Open Borders, Men playing in Women’s Sports, and Transgender Mutilization of your Children.”
Trump added: “Christina Bohannan is Reckless, Radical, and Dangerous!”
The President concluded the post by giving Ms Miller-Meeks his “Complete and Total Endorsement” and issuing an emphatic appeal to voters.
He wrote: “GET OUT AND VOTE FOR MARIANNETTE – SHE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!”
Trump’s fiery Truth Social post came on Election Day as Americans cast their ballots in the 2026 Midterms, which will determine the balance of power in Congress.
All 435 seats in the House of Representatives are being contested, alongside a number of Senate seats, with the results set to determine how much freedom Trump has to pursue his agenda during the remainder of his term.
A Democratic takeover of either chamber could make it significantly harder for the President to push legislation through Congress, while Republican control would strengthen Trump’s hand as he enters the second half of his presidency.

Trump’s last-minute push comes amid signs Republicans could face a difficult night at the polls.
Final polling ahead of Election Day showed Democrats leading in several crucial Senate battlegrounds, including some traditionally Republican territory.
Polling by the New York Times and Siena University put Democratic candidates ahead in five states currently represented by Republican senators, with the two parties effectively tied in a sixth.
Democrats were ahead in Kansas, Maine, Ohio and Texas, while holding a narrow edge in Alaska.
Crucially, the parties were tied in Iowa – the state where Trump issued his latest plea for voters to back Ms Miller-Meeks.
Democrats need to defend all the Senate seats they currently hold and gain four Republican-held seats to secure a majority.
