Tory chairman Richard Holden hit back at Carol Vorderman in a furious row on social media.
The former Countdown star lashed out at the Conservative MP over his letter to Sir Keir Starmer about Angela Rayner’s former living arrangements.
In a lengthy post on X, the fierce Tory critic accused Mr Holden of “desperation” and “obsession” with the Labour leader and his deputy.
Ms Vorderman went on to list what she described as “a few Holden facts” including that he was fined £100 for dropping litter after previously hitting out at people who throw rubbish on the floor and that he signed off a £10,000 salary top-up for then-Tory deputy chairman Lee Anderson.
She also highlighted that he currently does not have a seat for the next general election which is because his North West Durham constituency is being carved up as part of a national boundary review.
But Mr Holden hit back: “Nice to see you leaping forth to a good trolling sesh Carol Vorderman!
“Think we can both agree that the only stench here emanates from Angela’s inability to answer basic questions and Sir Keir’s unwillingness to ask them…
“Your logic is that no one should dare question Sir Keir Starmer or Angela Rayner – people who want to run our country.
“Fair enough, an odd position, but it seems to be serving you well as an online tool of Labour HQ…
“Given the level of half-truth vitriol, it’s almost as if you’ve woken up and Alastair Campbell and the Labour Party spin machine are there to draft your bile for you!
“Don’t worry, unlike you – I won’t accuse you of having an ‘obsession’ – but given the level of second-rate googling this extended tweet must have taken, it’s either Labour press handout or someone spent far too long googling me, which would be… obsessive..
“I’m sure it’s all your own work, unlike your #copyandpaste Shadow Chancellor pal Rachel Reeves.”
The online clash comes after Mr Holden wrote to Sir Keir about questions over Ms Rayner’s living arrangements a decade ago amid claims she failed to properly declare her main home.
