Tories and SNP storm out of Commons in furious protest against Lindsay Hoyle

MPs from the SNP and Conservative parties have walked out of the Commons chamber in an apparent protest over the Speaker’s handling of the Gaza ceasefire debate.

The commons went into meltdown moments before the mass departure after Deputy Speaker Rosie Winterton took points of order from MPs for more than 40 minutes.

MPs then voted on whether to sit in private, barring the public and journalists from proceedings.

The Scottish National Party’s David Linden confronted Deputy Speaker Rosie Winterton.

He said: “You’ve run this like a CLP [Constituency Labour Party] meeting. That is unacceptable.”
