Time to ditch your Fire TV Stick? Stunning new TV might just convince you

If you love your Amazon Fire TV Stick but aren’t keen on dongles clogging up your HDMI ports then Panasonic may have the answer. The technology giant has just unveiled two flagship models for the year ahead at the CES technology show in Las Vegas and they both come powered by Fire OS. That means you get the very same user experience along with access to a swathe of free and premium content without needing a Fire TV Stick accessory sticking out the back of your telly.

There are also personalised recommendations which help you find things to watch faster and you get all the usual and most popular streaming apps, such as Netflix and Disney+.

Another nice feature is full integration with the Fire TV Ambient Experience which turns the biggest screen in your home into an always-smart display. This can turn the TV into an in-home gallery, display personal photos, and show glanceable information like calendars and reminders through customizable Alexa widgets.

“Thanks to the integration of Fire TV built in, these TVs revolutionise how you discover and enjoy content, offering a personalised home screen that brings together streaming services, apps, live channels, and tailored recommendations,” Panasonic confirmed.

Of course it’s not just about the software, with Panasonic also boasting that its new Z95A and Z93A will offer some pretty stunning visuals thanks to the latest HCX Pro AI Processor MK II and a striking OLED panel.

The screens have even been fine-tuned by Stefan Sonnenfeld, Founder and CEO of Company 3 which is a trusted collaborator of some of the world’s best filmmakers.

Both sets also support Dolby Vision IQTM Precision which is a picture enhancement system that aims to reveal extra details.

The latest tellies should also sound pretty good thanks to 360 Soundscape Pro tuned by Technics, and there’s Panasonic’s usual multidirectional speakers plus Dolby Atmos support which helps deliver immersive 3D surround sound without needing extra speakers.

Speakling about the launch of the new screens, Mr Akira Toyoshima, President, CEO of Panasonic Entertainment & Communication Co., Ltd., said: “With such vast options, the real challenge becomes pinpointing exactly what you want to watch. Therefore, our new mission goes beyond just providing great picture and sound. It’s about simplifying the process of content discovery, ensuring it’s not just easy but delightful.”

Panasonic isn’t the only firm that has unveiled new TVs at CES. Samsung revealed its new Neo QLED tellies that get clever AI to improve the picture and sound.

Not to be outdone, LG has also shown off its clever transparent screen which makes it a little more pleasing to the eye when not being used.
