A thug threatened to rip out a council worker’s eyeballs and eat them after they refused to hand him money, a court heard. Clayton Jones, 41, referred to himself as “the hardest man in Port Talbot” but stalked one terrified woman and issued a series of terrifying threats to others trying to help him.

After demanding money from staff at a mental health service, Jones threatened workers and told them they would have to send armed police officers “or the SAS” to tackle him. Swansea Crown Court heard he would “persistently” bother council workers at Port Talbot Civic Centre demanding money, food vouchers and mobile phones. When he was told it wasn’t possible, Jones said he would rip out one staff member’s eyeballs and “chew” them – before telling them how they tasted.

He also stalked a woman worker by turning up at her home and speaking to her young daughter.

Jones of Briton Ferry, near Neath, pleaded guilty to making threats to kill, a public order offence, and stalking.

Jon Tarrant, defending, said Jones had been diagnosed with emotionally unstable personality disorder but “appears to be outside the boundaries of treatment”.

Judge Paul Thomas KC told him: “It is quite clear to me you have an uncontrollable temper, no doubt down to your emotionally unstable personality disorder”.

Jones, who appeared via videolink, was jailed for a total of three-and-a-half years.
