“I get a brush and cover it with a microfibre cloth to lift the dirt, by using the brush it means that I can pick up the dirt from any shape to the skirting board — it’s a go-to in my house!”

Get rid of those ghastly stains

Going under the username @rooshome, Roo has amassed over 570,000 followers thanks to her satisfying before-and-after videos of her cleaning her flat. Roo’s hacks were also shared with Cleanipedia including getting rid of several stains.

Sweat stains

The expert claims white vinegar is the answer.

She says: “Spray it onto the sweaty areas of any clothes you’ve been sweating in. Then simply place the items in the wash as normal with your detergent and fabric softener.”

Vomit stains

Grim we know, but sometimes it can’t be avoided.

Roo recommends “combining ½ cup of baking soda and a few tablespoons of water to create a paste and applying it evenly layer directly on the vomit stain.”

She then suggests washing the items with your detergent and fabric conditioner.

Blood stains

This can happen from time to time whether it’s from a period or a cut from shaving.

She says that cold water is “gold” when it comes to getting rid of the stain. “Pre-treat the stain with Persil Bio and pop it in the washing machine on a cold wash. Cold is gold when removing blood and most stains will come out with one wash, but if any remain, repeat the process.”

Get dishes sparkling

Nicola Lewis offers expert tips and home hacks under the username @thisgirlcanorganise, where she has gathered a combined following of over 205,000 followers.

She has a great way to get the most out of your dishwasher and it is all to do with a common household item – tin foil.

Lewis suggests putting a “scrunched piece of silver foil in your cutlery basket or tray before turning on the dishwasher.”

This will give your glasses and cutlery a “sparkling” result when the wash is done. She also recommends putting your glasses at an upright angle.
