This Morning's Rylan Clark left furious after police release doppelganger mugshot

This Morning host Rylan Clark, who is currently in Sweden preparing to cover this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, was left raging over an e-fit released by Kent Police which looked like him.

Rylan was speaking from his hotel room in Malmo to hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard about the number of people reaching out to him about a bearded e-fit shared on Twitter.

The Essex-born presenter shared: “I might be on the run, I’m not too sure. I woke up yesterday to a lot of messages from people saying, ‘Are you on the run?'”

He explained he decided to retweet the post, sharing a caption above which read “Wasn’t me” before he revealed he was contacted by news outlets.

Ben quipped as he was speaking to Rylan about the situation: “It looks like you are in a safe house in Sweden.”

Cat interjected to tell him it was not the first time Rylan had been mistaken as he’d been likened to a cat in the past. The white cat, shared online, looked like it had a dark beard similar to Rylan’s.

Rylan replied: “I get this every single year with Conchita Wurst from the Eurovision Song Contest. Cats, criminals, Conchita, I must be doing something right.”

Eurovision fans will recall that Austrian singer and drag queen Conchita Wurst won the contest in 2014 with the ballad Rise Like a Phoenix.

Furious about the mugshot, Rylan added: “I can prove I am in Sweden, there is a very big Ikea right there, so that is my proof.”

He also insisted This Morning contacted him about the mugshot after Cat asked if he’d got in touch with the ITV programme about the situation.

The post, shared by Kent Police yesterday read: “Officers investigating a report of an attempted robbery in Maidstone have released a computer-generated image of a man they would like to identify. Read the full details here -.”

However, This Morning fans failed to see the resemblance the e-fit had to Rylan, with one writing: “The picture looks nothing like the real Rylan.”

A second added: “#thismorning Desperate for stories today? Cos that looks nothing like Rylan.” (sic)

Another noted: “Only British TV could have Rylan on the show live from Sweden and NOT ask him about Eurovision next week.”

This Morning airs on weekdays from 10am on ITV and ITVX.
