This Morning's Cat Deeley 'irritating' presenting habit sparks viewer frenzy

Cat Deeley has sparked backlash from This Morning viewers due to her involvement in a fashion segment. The ITV presenter was joined on the sidelines by Ben Shephard as they chatted spring styling with Joanne Hegarty.

On Tuesday (May 7), Cat, 47, and Ben, 49, returned to the helm of This Morning following their bank holiday Monday absence. During the magazine programme, the pair discussed jackets with fashion columnist Joanne.

A runway had been set up in the ITV studio and saw models such as Charlotte, Lynn and Bev sporting various lightweight coats. These were from a range of brands and were teamed with jeans summer dresses and wide-leg pants.

During the show, Cat turned to her co-host and remarked that she owned similar items herself before complimenting the models. “Bev, you look gorgeous,” she remarked. “Thanks to Joanne and thanks to all our models,” Cat continued.

“If you’re looking for even more wardrobe inspiration and inspiration on trend all of it then there’s the jackets on This Morning Loves.” However, the feel-good segment has divided viewers, with many commenting on Cat’s heavy involvement.

One user of X, formerly known as Twitter, took to the platform and wrote: “Ha Cat commenting about fashion? She’s gotta be one of the worst dressed ‘presenters’ on tv !#ThisMorning”

A second said: “Cat why don’t you just get up and model yourself… irritating.”

“Why do they have guests on to do fashion and cooking,” queried another. “Cat can just do it. She knows everything.”

A fourth complained: “Cat taken over the fashion item as usual. #ThisMorning.”

However, others have rushed to the star’s defence, with one saying: “Watching Cat & Ben it’s like a proper show they are professional unlike that Hammond childish woman and Dermot.”

Cat and Ben were appointed permanent hosts of This Morning in March following the subsequent exits of Holly Willoughby and former co-anchor Phillip Schofield.

The pair regularly host Monday to Thursday’s edition of the mid-morning mainstay while Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary are usually on hand to present Friday’s instalment.

Relief presenters on the show include Josie Gibson, Craig Doyle and Rochelle Humes.
