The world’s biggest nightclub that was abandoned but will now welcome 15,000 partygoers | World | News

A legendary nightclub that was forced to close its doors during the pandemic is set to reopen. The Privilege Ibiza burst onto the club scene in 1994 and quickly became the place to party.

The venue regularly hosted some of the world’s most famous DJs, such as FatBoy Slim, David Guetta, Carl Cox and Pete Tong. Its dance floors were packed with revellers almost every night and could accommodate a whopping 10,000 people.

Patrons of the super club included pop music sensations Boy George, Madonna, David Bowie and Grace Jones.

Disaster struck with the outbreak of Covid, when the venue was forced to close its doors in 2020 and quickly fell into disrepair.

Ironically it became a place of pilgrimage for many travellers thereafter, keen to soak up the ghostly vibes of its hedonistic past.

The abandoned venue was recently acquired by a company called The Night League, which owns a number of other iconic Ibiza clubs – in particular Ushuaia and HI Ibiza.

The group has given the former super club a makeover, increasing its capacity to 15,000.

Rebranded as UNVRS, the club is set to throw an almighty party later this month to announce its return to Ibiza’s night scene.

The owners promise the new club will combine “high-end service, luxury” to “revolutionise clubbing and nightlife”.

They also aim to be a “technologically-advanced venue” and will host world-famous DJs at what’s set to be the home of the “best parties in Ibiza.”

However those looking to strut their stuff on the club’s dance floors will have to be prepared to dig deep into their pockets.

The cost of a drinks package comes to a cool £100 (€99,99), but does not include the entry ticket, nor premium spirits and cocktails.

The special offer gives customers only five drinks despite the eye-watering total, but claims to “save time and up to €20.”
