The viral Christmas hack on a budget to try at home – 'everybody loved it'

All you need is a used kitchen roll, wrapping paper, and a pack of oranges for these Christmas decor hacks.

As shared by Little Pettitt Pad on TikTok, adding an empty kitchen roll (or loo roll), inside of a vase, you can fill up the surrounding edges with baubles.

You can then add festive flowers, real or faux, to make a great centrepiece for the dining room table.

For a little extra special piece, you can add in some twinkling lights on and around the flowers.

One viewer, Irina Andreea, said: “Beautiful!” Another, Landeros, said: “Love it!”

People continued to gush about the easy-to-make Christmassy table centrepiece saying comments like “lovely”, and “that’s pretty”.

Another Christmas decor hack, passed on from one TikTok user’s mum, is about wrapping artwork or photos you already have hanging up in your home.

Nathan Triska said: “This is the absolute best Christmas hack on a budget. I have to shout out [to] my mum for this one, because she came up with it, and she used to do this when I was a kid, and everybody loved it.”

If you already have sticky tape at home, and wrapping paper, then all you need now are decorative bows.

Taking down the artwork or pictures you have around your home, you can then wrap the front-facing part with wrapping paper, add on a bow, and hang it back up.

“It’s going to look like you literally have presents hanging on the wall,” said Nathan. “I remember when my nieces and nephews were little, they loved this.”

One fan, briefuci1975, said: “This is such a great way to add Christmas decor without spending a ton and having to rearrange everything.”

Another, Kelsey Dramse, added: “[Oh my, God] what a smart idea! I love this and love that you learned from your mom!”

The final Christmas hack worth trying is to slice up oranges, place them on parchment paper-lined baking tray in a preheated oven at 200c, and bake for four to six hours. They should come out semi-transparent, perfect for threading through some string to then hang them up.
