The unlikely 'ugly' UK town named one of the most chilled-out

Despite often being named one of the worst places to live, a surprising UK town has been ranked as one of the UK’s most chilled-out spots. The Bedfordshire town, which has previously topped the list of worst places to live, has managed to escape the top ten this year.

Luton is now considered the fifth most zen place in the UK, only slightly behind the picturesque seaside town of Bournemouth. It also ranks second for having the lowest levels of anxiety.

The town has seen the largest drop in anxiety levels over the past five years in the UK, with a significant decrease of 12.04 percent. This could be a sign that things are looking up for Luton.

According to research by Supplement Place, the town scored a zen rating of 6.19 out of 10.

Luton is conveniently located just 40 minutes from London and has excellent road links to the Midlands and the North of England, thanks to its proximity to the M1.

Despite previous criticism for its ‘ugly’ appearance, locals have praised their hometown for its many positive attributes.

The town boasts an international airport and university, as well as cultural attractions like the Wardown Park Museum and Kenilworth Road football stadium.

Plus, it’s easy to access natural beauty spots like The Barton Hills National Nature Reserve and Chiltern Hills from Luton, which may contribute to its relaxed atmosphere.

Living in Luton is much more affordable than London, with homes averaging at £309,151 over the past year, according to Rightmove.
