The UK public voted if Oasis are definitely, maybe or not overrated – add your vote below

The day that fans dreamed of but never quite dared could happen is finally here. From the release of 1994’s debut album Definitely, Maybe, the band (with various line-ups) became one of the biggest acts in the world but tensions had always been high between the brothers, culminating in the shock announcement on August 29, 2009, at Paris’ Rock en Seine festival that the band would not take the stage.

Noel released a statement saying: “It is with some sadness and great relief … I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”

The next 15 years were fulled with countless verbal clashes and mud slinging until the band announced the Oasis Live ’25 reunion tour last August. Fans are very clear which songs they want to hear, the top five are listed below. But almost half worry the brothers will blow up again before the tour finishes.

As well as the Gallagher brothers, the reunited line-up includes former members Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs (guitar, piano), Gem Archer (guitar) and Andy Bell (bass) with Joey Waronker as the new drummer plus Liam Gallagher’s live keyboardist Christian Madden and High Flying Birds backing vocalist Jessica Greenfield.

Anticipation is sky-high, but can they live up to the hype, and there are also many very  strong arguments why Oasis will even finish the tour . And, besides, were they really that great in the first place?

Acclaimed by many as rock legends, others highlight the obvious songwriting debt to the Beatles. Sophomore album (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? was the UK’s biggest seller of the 1990s, and they have shifted over 70 millions records so far.

They are undeniably one of the biggest bands of all time, but a recent UK poll returned the shocking stat that the vast majority are no longer that impressed. The full breakdown is below, plus your chance to vote.

Can’t see the poll above? Click here.

In the recent Ladbrokes poll, 44% said Oasis were very overrated, 39% said they were somewhat overrated and only 19% said they deserved their acclaim.

Over the next few weeks we will see what the fans and critics say, after the UK and World Tour launches in Cardiff at the Principality Stadium tonight and tomorrow.

In a recent Ladbrokes poll 40% believed Oasis would not complete the tour.

They also voted on their favourite songs with Don’t Look Back in Anger receiving 22.9%, Wonderwall 17.6%, Champagne Supernova 9.3%, Little by Little 5.9% and Stop Crying Your Heart Out 5.3%.
