The top 10 Agatha Christie movies ranked by viewers – Poirot only number 6

Agatha Christie is one of the best-selling authors of all time, and she has penned some of the world’s most popular novels, which have been adapted to the screen. In a list on IMDB, movie-lovers have ranked the best and worst Agatha Christie films.

The English detective novelist and playwright wrote over 66 detective novels and 14 short story collections. Some of her most notable titles include Murder on the Orient Express and The Mystery of the Blue Train. Christie became known as the “queen of crime” and famously wrote the world’s longest-running play, Mousetrap.

10. Dead Man’s Folly (1986)

During a murder hunt game at a country house, to which Hercule Poirot is invited as an “expert”, a real murder occurs.

9. Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple: 4.50 from Paddington (1987)

A friend of Miss Marple’s sees a woman being strangled in a passing train.

When police cannot find a body and doubt the story, Miss Marple enlists professional housekeeper, Lucy Eyelesbarrow, to go undercover.

8. Ten Little Indians (1965)

Ten people are invited to a luxury mountaintop mansion, only to find that an unseen person is killing them one by one.

7. Appointment with Death (1988)

A former prison wardress who dominates the lives of her three adult stepchildren and her daughter is found dead at an archaeological dig near the Dead Sea.

The story follows the investigation to narrow down the suspects and find the killer.

6. Poirot

Poirot becomes embroiled in another mystery and helps solve a series of crimes along with Captain Hastings and Scotland Yard Chief Inspector James Japp.

5. The Mirror Crack’d (1980)

Miss Jane Marple comes to solve the mystery when a local woman is poisoned, but a visiting movie star seems to have been the intended victim.

4. Evil Under the Sun (1982)

This film makes the top five, it follows Agatha Christie’s Belgian sleuth who solves the murder of an actress at a Balkan resort.

3. Witness for the Prosecution (1957)

Witness for the prosecution follows a veteran British barrister who must defend his client in a murder trial that has surprise after surprise.

2. Death on the Nile (1978)

The story follows Hercule Poirot as he enjoys a luxurious cruise down the Nile when a newlywed heiress is found murdered on board. The detective must find the killer before the ship reaches the end of its journey.

1. Murder on the Orient Express (1974)

This classic film is one that many will have seen and enjoyed.

In December 1935, when his transcontinental luxury train is stranded by deep snow, detective Hercule Poirot is called on to solve a murder that occurred in his car the night before, with a multitude of suspects.
