The sporting hobbies that Princess Charlotte can try at her posh £18k-a-year school

Princess Charlotte takes after many members of the Royal Family in that she loves playing and watching sports, and at her swanky prep school she has the opportunity to try out so many.

Charlotte and her brothers Prince George and Prince Louis are students at Lambrook School close to their family home Adelaide Cottage, where they enrolled after the Waleses moved from London to Windsor.

For pupils Charlotte’s age, parents can expect to pay upwards of £6,500 for a term, with that rising closer to £7,000 once a child reaches George’s age.

The Princess, who will celebrate her ninth birthday in May, has access to a wide range of extravagant sports facilities, as well as impressive resources for music and drama and of course a first-class education.

The Lambrook website states: “Our facilities are second-to-none and include all-weather surface cricket, football, netball and hockey pitches, a well-equipped sports hall, a 25-metre indoor swimming pool, squash and tennis courts, dance studio, a nine-hole golf course and cricket squares of unsurpassed quality.”

It’s possible that Charlotte may be spending the most time in the sports hall, as she revealed her favourite hobby when she attended the Commonwealth Games with Prince William and Princess Kate in 2022.

Tim Lawler, chief executive of SportsAid, said after her trip to the Games: “She really, really loved seeing the swimming, but she’s interested in the gymnastics.

“While they are trying lots of different sports at home, when I asked her about sport she answered very easily and said: ‘It’s gymnastics that I like’.”

Hockey and netball were another two sports that the family enjoyed watching at the Commonwealth Games, with netball gold medallist Ama Agbeze saying: “Kate and William went with Princess Charlotte to the England hockey match.

“Charlotte was saying she wants to play hockey. When I’d met Kate before she’d said that she played netball so I said: ‘She has to play netball, stop’.

“But it doesn’t matter as long as she plays sport, she can play every sport under the sun. It will be good if people take her lead.

“If Princess Charlotte is sitting there and thinking ‘I want to do this’, how many other children are watching and thinking that?”
