The King has shared one of his favourite songs and it’s not one you might easily guess.
In 2021, he highlighted some of his favourite tunes as part of a special show on hospital radio to thank NHS staff and volunteers during the Covid-19 pandemic.
King Charles mentioned soul group The Three Degrees’ pop hit Givin’ Up, Givin’ In as a track that used to give him “an irresistible urge to get up and dance”.
The Three Degrees are well known for their soulful voices and fabulous stage shows.
They are known all around the world for songs like ‘When will I see you again’ and ‘Take Good Care Of Yourself’.
King Charles shared a list of songs from throughout his life with tracks from artists from South Africa, Scotland, France and the Irish Republic, reports BBC.
The song Givin’ Up Givin’ In was performed by The Three Degrees at his 30th birthday, and he described it as “one of my favourites and, long ago, used to provide me with an irresistible urge to get up and dance”.
Other songs on the list of the King’s favourites include: ‘Don’t Rain On My Parade’ by Barbra Streisand, ‘La Vie En Rose’ by Edith Piaf, ‘Upside Down’ by Diana Ross and ‘The Voice’ by Eimear Quinn.
At the Coronation, the king was seen dancing to Lionel Richie’s performance of All Night Long.
The newly crowned monarch started to sway to the rendition of the pop star’s song.
Queen Camilla, the Prince and Princess of Wales, Princess Charlotte and Prince George all joined in, reports The Telegraph.
Lionel Richie was one of the celebrity guests at the Coronation service; he performed a number of his hit tracks when he took to the stage in the grounds of Windsor Castle.
But other than music, the king has also shared what films he enjoys watching.
The monarch was busy delivered honours as Buckingham Palace in December 2024 and one of the lucky recipients was renowned filmmaker Christopher Nolan.
While they were having these honours bestowed upon them, the King told Nolan that he was a fan of Oppenheimer – the 2023 summer blockbuster that ended up winning seven Oscars.
