This pretty village is the perfect place to visit if you also want to see one of the UK’s most famous and popular lakes. The Lake District in Cumbria is home to some of England’s most picturesque spots and it has gained international attention for its famous bodies of water.

Bowness-on-Windermere is a quaint village in the Lake District that’s just a short way from Lake Windermere, one of the most visited lakes in the area. If you’re looking for somewhere to visit this summer, this could be the ideal place to enjoy a quiet break. Day Out in England has named the village as one of the 20 most beautiful in the Lakes.

Day Out in England says: “Surrounded by the undeniably beautiful Windermere Lake (great for paddle boarding in the Lake District), Bowness has become a hot spot for tourists.

“To accommodate this influx of visitors, Bowness-on-Windermere has everything you need for an enjoyable day in the Lake District.

“Due to its popularity, you’ll also find an extensive array of free parking to make sure your day runs smoothly.”

Lake Windermere has been named by Time Out as the UK’s most beautiful lake, and this won’t come as a surprise to people who have visited.

A visitor on Tripadvisor said: “Absolutely beautiful place even in the rain, lots to do and very central in the Lake District totally recommend a visit so worth it.”

Another said: “A stunning lake with perfect photography spots. A beautiful backdrop of valleys, hills and tree lines. Fantastic walks around the area and a fantastic range of activities such as boat trips, paddle boarding and lunch at one of the local cafes/restaurants.”

If you’re planning on visiting Bowness-on-Windermere, you can visit St Martin’s Church which is the parish Church of Bowness.

It was built in 1483 and is one of the most well-known features of the area.

Alongside this, you can also take a trip to the World of Beatrix Potter Attraction which is a world-famous site.

Here, Beatrix Potter’s magical stories are brought to life in 3D and it’s an experience often enjoyed by a varied range of visitors.

You can also take a ferry or boat trip on Lake Windermere, which is a great way to explore the area from the water.

If you’re looking for a quiet and relaxing break, Bowness-on-Windermere is a scenic place to enjoy a staycation in the UK.
