The 'most likely reason' why Princess Kate edited photo that every parent can relate to

Royal fans have pointed out the “most likely reason” Princess Kate edited the photograph of herself with her children – and it’s something every parent can relate to. Taking to X, professional photographers and fans have pointed out that Kate probably edited the photo in order to ensure Princess Charlotte, Prince George and Prince Louis were all looking in the same direction.

Many remarked how difficult it was to take pictures of children and ensure they were all looking the same way.

It comes after the Mother’s Day photo was placed under a kill notice by Associated Press (AP), Reuters, Agence France-Presse (AFP), Getty Images and PA over image manipulation concerns.

One professional photographer posted on Twitter: “Getting three young kids to all look at the camera at the same time and all smile is exceptionally difficult. I would argue probably even for a professional photographer.”

While another poster added: “The real reason this pic is fake is that it’s impossible to get three kids to laugh joyfully and look at the camera at the exact same time.”

Kate has now issued a statement via the Prince and Princess of Wales’s official X account.

She said: “Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing.

“I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day.”

After issuing the kill notice yesterday, the national press agency, PA, also issued a statement.

It read: “Like other news agencies, PA Media issued the handout image provided by Kensington Palace of the Princess of Wales and her children in good faith yesterday.

“We became aware of concerns about the image and we carried a report about it last night, and made clear that we were seeking urgent clarification about the image from Kensington Palace.

“In the absence of that clarification, we are killing the image from our picture service.”

The palace has said it will not be releasing the original unedited photo.
