It’s no surprise that Brits are beginning to swarm the country’s seaside towns with their quaint villages, scenic views and cleaner air. A recent study carried out by My Baggage looked at key factors such as house pricing, salaries, climate conditions and more to calculate where exactly in the UK is the best place to move to.

The idyllic town of Margate came out as the number one destination for a seaside relocation, but this picturesque village made its way up the rankings at number three. On the North coast of Kent, Whitstable is a seaside town with a near-perfect score of 90.53. The study unveiled that the area has an average salary of £59,978, alongside an average house price of over £478,370.94. Comparatively, Portrush, which ranked last at number 10, has an average house price of £245,531.82 while only having a median annual salary of £30,553.

The coastal haven has so much to offer for its residents, including a number of beaches, from the popular Whitstable beach to Tankerton beach and West beach, all offering serene shores and special sunsets. As well as this, the area is known and loved for its historic castle and gardens and its bustling harbour, at the heart of the town.

For those wanting a quiet life by the sea, Whitstable makes for the perfect place, with an average number of four residents per 1km. Its coastal paths and striking views allow for the ideal retreat for days out with the family.

When it comes to seaside cuisine, Harbour Street is the place to be in Whitstable. Serving up the very best of traditional fish and chips, alongside oysters and tasty seafood, visitors looking for an authentic seaside escape often flock to the area.

Speaking about the survey they have conducted, the CEO of My Baggage, Paul Stewart, said: “The study highlights the diverse appeal of the UK’s coastline, with top destinations spanning from Kent to Yorkshire and Wales to Northern Ireland.

“Particularly noteworthy is the strong showing from Kent, with two towns in the top three, suggesting the county’s growing reputation as the UK’s premier coastal living destination.”

Coming in at number one on the list was the peaceful town of Margate, with an impressive total score of 98.83. The study showed how the average price in the town was £333,025.02, with an average salary of £32,415 and heaps of sunlight throughout the year.
