This pretty town in Croatia is rarely visited by tourists but it offers an unforgettable trip for those who do venture off the beaten path to see the area.

Stomorska town on Šolta island is one of the destinations that isn’t on everybody’s list – but it’s a picturesque fishing town with a rich nautical history.

The water in the bay is beautifully clear and there are several beaches for relaxing and swimming.

There is a small beach, a safe town quay, and charming houses with a gloriously relaxing vibe.

Add a family-run winery which is five minutes away by car, and a cool little beach bar and you’ve got a winning combination.

Walk up the hill on the southern side of the bay to enjoy beautiful views of the town and across to the mainland.

Stomorska is the oldest settlement on the island of Šolta. It began to develop in the 17th century and is located in a cradle between the pine forests and olive groves, in a deep bay.

While you’re there, you should enjoy the waterfront and the stunning beaches in the area.

After strolling along the shore, you can wander into the range of taverns and cafes where you can absorb the charm of the town.

On the blog Croatia Wise, one person said: “This beautiful island boasts an unspoiled landscape, picturesque villages, crystal-clear waters, and a rich cultural heritage.

“It’s surprising to me that it is not more popular and generally ignored by the tourists.”

To get to the town, you’ll need to take a ferry. Many tourists generally visit from Split which is easy to fly to. Once you’re there, you’ll need to take a ferry to Rogač, the main island port.

It takes one hour to get to the island and you can enjoy the journey along the way.

The island is so small it only has space for around 500 tourists and it only has around 250 residents.

You’re guaranteed a relaxing and peaceful break if you visit this pretty yet underrated spot.
