The south of France is renowned for its luxurious beach holiday experiences, with millions of people jetting over to the region to immerse themselves in the culture and captivating atmosphere. In the region of Occitaine, a vibrant city called Sète boasts warm weather, a bustling port, and beautiful beaches along its 8-mile golden stretch of sand.

With nearly 320 days of sunshine, this seaside resort, only a few hours away, is a great all-year-round destination for UK holidaymakers. Sète has a number of beaches dotted along its coastline where visitors can relax and soak up the sun or take part in various watersport activities, including kitesurfing, diving, sailing, and kayaking.

According to TripAdvisor, Plage de la Corniche rated 4.2 stars is the best beach in Sète. The beach has been praised by visitors for its beauty, views and proximitiy to the town centre.

One visitor said: “This beach area is close to the center of town. Come here for the views, not so much for the swimming or sun bathing. It serves as a very pretty spot to view the sea and the coastline.”

Another visitor who expressed deep admiration for the beach noted that it catered to all types of visitors. They said, “A place that rivals the most sublime places on our planet, this place offers an exceptional experience, whether you are with family or alone. It truly is suitable for all tastes and preferences. I can only strongly encourage you to discover it for yourself.”

Beyond the beaches, the region offers an abundance of charm, with many must-see sights and a fantastic history to delve into. A simple stroll through the centre will testify of the city’s rich heritage and fishing port past. The city was founded in 1666 by Louis XIV and has become the largest fishing port in the French Mediterranean.

The Saint-Louis lighthouse which stands at 33 metres offers a 360 view of the port, marina and old town. Visitors can walk along the promenade of the pier, up a 650-metre cobbled road then then climb 120 steps to experience the impressive view.

For those who would like to enjoy an easy walk but still want to see Sete’s beauty, then a walk along the Corniche offers the best views of the Mediterranean Sea, and it is even better at sunset.
