The city was founded in 1666 by Louis XIV and has become the largest fishing port in the French Mediterranean.
The Saint-Louis lighthouse which stands at 33 metres offers a 360 view of the port, marina and old town. Visitors can walk along the promenade of the pier, up a 650-metre cobbled road then then climb 120 steps to experience the impressive view.
