Princess Charlotte may be one of the youngest members of the Royal Family, but there is no doubt she is one of the most famous.
As the only daughter of Prince William and Princess Kate, both 42, the young princess, nine, often makes headlines after attending big royal events.
Whether she is putting her brothers Prince George, 11, and Prince Louis, six, in their place, or sweetly copying her mum’s gestures, the princess is certainly in the spotlight a lot more than other children her age.
While she may be getting used to being in the spotlight during public outings, such as at Princess Kate’s Together At Christmas carol service on December 6, Charlotte lives a very different life behind closed doors.
As well as having the freedom at home to enjoy the same activities of other nine-year-olds across the globe, such as practising her ballet skills and playing with her brothers, the princess also has the freedom at school to be just like every other student.
Since 2022, the princess – along with George and Louis – has attended Lambrook School in Berkshire, close to where the family live in Windsor.
Before that, Charlotte was a young pupil at Thomas’s Battersea School in London, where she went by the very simple nickname of Charlotte Cambridge among her friends.
This was when her dad was the Duke of Cambridge, however his new title of Prince of Wales – bestowed upon William after his father the King ascended to the throne – means it is likely her name at school has now changed to Charlotte Wales.
While this may be her name at school, the young princess has different nicknames when it comes to what she is called at home by her nearest and dearest.
During a trip to Northern Ireland in 2019, the Princess of Wales spoke to a member of the public about her daughter, who she referred to as Lottie.
The same year, Prince William was heard called Charlotte “mignonette” as he visited the garden Kate helped design for the Chelsea Flower Show in 2019 with the couple’s three children. The French word is reportedly used to describe something “small, sweet and delicate,” or something “cute.”
While Charlotte has her own nicknames, the same can be said for her two brothers, with Prince Louis having fondly been called “Loubugs” by his mum Kate last year as they volunteered at a scout hut to mark the King’s Coronation weekend.
As for Prince George, it has previously been reported that he is known by friends – and his parents – as PG Tips, a play on his initials, according to The Sun. The three children all currently attend Lambrook school together.
