A Texas woman died after being shot in a road-rage incident on Monday, police said.
According to a police statement, Paola Nunez Linares, 37 was in the passenger seat of the car with her husband who was driving near Hurst, between Fort Worth and Dallas.
Zane Jones, her husband, told NBC Dallas-Fort Worth he flipped off a car that was driving aggressively. In response, Jones said the driver fired several shots into the couple’s minivan, striking Nunez Linares in the back of the head.
She was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital, police said.
“I need him caught, I need him prosecuted, I need him in prison. I need him to know he didn’t just fire a gun into a car, ‘the end,’” Jones told the NBC Dallas-Fort Worth. “He killed someone who’s not like anyone.”
Police are still looking for the shooter. The vehicle was described as a small, dark-colored older model car.

What is road rage?
Aggressive driving – like driving too closely or weaving through traffic – can escalate to confrontations, physical assault and murder, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Road rage describes “the angry and violent behaviors at the extreme of the aggressive driving continuum,” the agency says.
Road rage injuries and deaths involving guns have increased every year since 2018 and about doubled from 2018 to 2022, a report from the advocacy group Everytown for Gun Safety.
