Aarron Greaves, 32, was en route to the renowned Spanish party island when he made the shocking discovery of damage to the plane window. The Ryanair flight, leaving from Manchester, appeared to have a “cracked window”, right next to his seat. Despite his concerns, Ryanair staff reassured him there was no cause for alarm. Aaron, hailing from St Helens, Merseyside, took a photo of himself poking his finger through the plastic cover.

He said: “Everyone was scared and no one wanted to sit near it. I saw the crack after opening the window, so it was already there when I got on the plane. “The crew came over and told us that an engineer had checked and it is structurally sound, but they didn’t say how it happened. “I was pretty worried, but it all worked out OK in the end.”

Ryanair confirmed that the damage was only to the “window reveal”.

The airline said: “We note that the window reveal, which is used only to protect the window from scratches, was found to be damaged and has since been replaced”.

This is not the only nightmare passengers have faced while on a Ryanair flight. A British passenger on a Ryanair flight has been sentenced to 225 hours of community service after boarding a flight bound for the Canary Islands drunk and carrying an empty bottle of vodka on the flight.

The incident happened on a flight from Edinburgh to Lanzarote in July 2024 and forced the aircraft to return to Edinburgh less than 30 minutes after take-off. According to witnesses, the man was carrying a vodka bottle, appeared drunk when boarding and used an electronic cigarette in the cabin. During the flight, he began shouting at other passengers and although cabin crew confiscated the bottle and vape, the situation wasn’t improving and the pilot decided to return to Edinburgh Airport. Police officers detained the passenger along with two others involved.

Meanwhile, a Ryanair flight earlier this month, also heading for Ibiza, descended into chaos after a video went viral showing a group of rowdy passengers drinking, raving and singing in the aisle.

In the footage, which garnered over one million likes, TikTok user @tommymason12, said: “Safe to say cabin crew were not happy with us.”

While numerous viewers confessed they would enjoy experiencing such an environment during a flight, others have expressed their worries about travelling to Ibiza following the footage.

“This would be my idea of hell,” remarked one person. “Would be an absolute nightmare,” noted another.

Someone else commented: “My worst fear. I absolutely hate flying. This would have really freaked me out.”
