Terrifying moment a Russian lift freefalls leaving occupants frozen: 'Seriously dangerous'

Shocking video footage has shown the moment a Russian lift plummeted in freefall leaving its passengers stranded.

The clip posted to Twitter by Igor Sushko shows a group of five men getting in the lift in Ufa in Russia’s Bashkortostan area and pressing a button to operate the lift.

But before the doors can close the lift starts dropping leaving its occupants frozen and clinging on.

As the lift crashes to the ground a sharp stop can be seen shaking those inside.

Despite the elevator being broken, one man tries to press a button to get it moving up to the top before they then attempt to open its doors.

Followers responded in shock describing the fall as “seriously dangerous”.

One reply read: “Weight limits in elevators exist for a reason and they surpassed that by a lot I’ve no doubt.”
