Last night a spokeswoman for Marlborough College told The Sun: “The College is aware that police are investigating a former member of staff following a report from a member of the public of a non-recent sexual assault.
“We take any allegation of this nature extremely seriously, no matter how long ago it is said to have occurred.
“The College places safeguarding at the heart of everything it does and the wellbeing and welfare of our pupils and staff always remain our top priority.
“We are in close contact with the police as they continue their enquiries.”
Marlborough College has an impressive list of alumni beyond Kate, which includes comedian Jack Whitehall, British public personality Sally Bercow, and Samantha Cameron, wife of former PM David Cameron.
It is highly regarded as one of the best co-educational independent schools in the country, with sprawling facilities, particularly within the sporting department, with many of the pupils partaking in extracurricular activities during their breaks.
The school houses 13 hard tennis courts and 12 all-weather tennis courts, multiple football and lacrosse courts, and some of the highest-quality school rugby facilities in the country.
The co-ed school houses over 1,000 pupils from ages 13-18 from both the UK and overseas.
