Sydney Sweeney might not attend Met Gala over frustrating reason despite New York sighting

The thought of having a potential Euphoria reunion on fashion’s biggest night has whipped fans into a frenzy as Sydney’s former costar Zendaya is returning to the event after a four-year hiatus to co-chair the evening.

As the gala on May 5th nears, fans hopes are high after spotting Sydney multiple times over the weekend in New York City, where the star-studded event is held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

When it comes to selecting her iconic red carpet ensembles, the Anyone But You actress explained that she simply tries to match the “vibe” of whatever event she is attending, exciting fans even more for what she could be donning tonight if she does appear at the Met.

Speaking to Variety in March the rising Hollywood starlet admitted the public interest in her looks has been taking a toll but she is strictly keeping to a specific mindset in order to survive the fad.

She explained: “I just can’t allow myself to have a reaction.”

Dishing on the pseudosocial relationship fans tend to build with their favorite stars, despite having no connection to the celebrity as a person, Sydney described her perspective as the object of obsession.

The 26-year-old continued: “People feel connected and free to be able to speak about me in whatever way they want, because they believe that I’ve signed my life away.

“That these characters are for everybody else, but then me as Sydney is not for me anymore.

“It’s this weird relationship that people have with me that I have no control or say over.”
