Pasta is a meal that never grows tiresome. Whether it’s a fiery tomato-based ragu or a luxurious white wine sauce, the possibilities are truly limitless, offering countless ways to savour it.

It’s an excellent choice for those hectic weeknights when you’re short on time. While pasta doesn’t usually take long to prepare, boiling water in a pot can add extra minutes. However, experts have recommended a faster alternative – and it involves another kitchen essential.

The experts at Allrecipes suggest using a frying pan for faster pasta preparation.

Though it may seem unusual, you can cook pasta and whip up a sauce simultaneously in one pan, reducing the need for additional washing-up.

There’s no shortage of one-pan pasta recipes, but if you’re after something straightforward, the ‘easiest tomato pasta ever’ by Taming Twins is an excellent starting point. Here’s how to make it.

Method

Take a lidded frying pan and add spaghetti, tinned tomatoes, onion, garlic, olive oil, pesto, salt and pepper, and stock. Cover with the lid and cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes, until the pasta is nearly done.

Add the cherry tomatoes and continue to cook for another three or four minutes until the pasta is perfectly tender and the cherry tomatoes are thoroughly cooked. Portion into bowls, sprinkle with the parmesan cheese and enjoy.
