Stacey Solomon 'so excited' as she shares emotional family update in sweet tribute

Stacey Solomon penned an emotional tribute to her son Leighton as he celebrated his 12th birthday on Sunday. The proud mum, 34, took to her Instagram page share two pictures of the mother and son duo for her 5.9 million followers to see.

In the black and white pictures, the pair were all smiles as hugged and beamed from ear to ear in front of the camera. The Loose Women star took the opportunity to pay tribute to her second eldest child as she marked the special occasion.

She penned: “Happy Birthday Leighton. The funniest, craziest, wild, clever, most unafraid human. I’m so proud of the person you are growing up to be Leight.

“And I’m very excited to have a rare picture of you & me that you actually like. To the moon and back Leighton! Happy 12!” The ITV star went on to give an insight into the birthday celebrations as she shared a picture on her stories of Leighton’s yummy Ferrero Rocher cake.

“Time for the best part of birthdays. Me & Leighton have the same taste in cakes & I’m so happy about it!,” Stacey wrote underneath it. The mum-of-five’s tribute post comes after she previously joked she was being held hostage by her husband Joe Swash.

She spent the weekend staying at a caravan park with Joe and their three children together.

The couple headed away with the youngest members of their clan, with the TV personality sharing a number of snaps of Rex, four, Rose, two, and one-year-old Belle on their fun-filled trip.

As well as the younger three and Leighton, Stacey is also mum to her eldest son Zachary, 15, as well as a stepmum to Joe’s son Harry, who he shares with former partner Emma Sophocleous.

Things didn’t go to plan when it was time for the family to come home, and they had no choice but to extend their stay.

Taking to her Instagram Stories on April 14, Stacey told her followers: “We’re still in this caravan,” as Joe added: “The kids won’t let us go home.”

Stacey pointed out that the EastEnders star also wasn’t keen on leaving as Joe joked: “I’m keeping her hostage.”

The X Factor star explained that she needed to leave as she had a scheduled appearance on This Morning the following day.

Joe joked: “I reckon, there’s about a 75 percent chance that we’re not going to let her go on This Morning.” Stacey responded: “I’m going, I’ve got to go, I can’t just not turn up.”
