Sports bettor loses $55k on shocking Jannik Sinner upset after ‘picking up money’ garb

Casinos across the country have been built on bettors who think any wager is guaranteed. One bettor had to learn that lesson the hard way.

An X user named @FoaznPoker wagered $55,000 — $50,000 with Kalshi and $5,000 with FanDuel — on Jannik Sinner’s second-round match against unseeded Juan Manuel Cerundolo. The payout on those bets would have totaled a whopping $997.07.

This bettor was so confident that posted on X, “If you saw $999.07 on the ground, you’d pick it up, right?”

They added, “Sinner is GUARANTEED to win, and Foazn won’t wake up at 5am to watch. I make money in my sleep; you wake up to make money”

Famous last words.

Sinner, who won the first two sets 6-3, 6-2, and was ahead in the third, 5-1, before he stunningly lost the final three sets 7-5, 6-1, 6-1 in a massive upset.

Sinner was -10000 to win the match and entered the French Open at -280 to lift the trophy with his usual foil, Carlos Alcaraz, sidelined.

Sinner began cramping and could not handle the 90-degree heat in Paris, which has become a trend for him

He’s now the first men’s No. 1 to lose before the third round at the French Open since Andre Agassi in 2000.

“I think I was a little bit lucky,” Cerundolo said during an interview on the court after the match. “I feel sorry for him.”

The opposite is true for Foazn Poker.

They tried their best to play down the loss by bringing up Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini, then pointing out that the engagement on the tweet would play them thanks to the X creator program.

The lessons here are fairly easy to grasp. No bet is guaranteed. When betting on a sport, watching the event might be helpful in case an all-time collapse is occurring.

Arguably, the best lesson to take, though, is always to read the bio.

Foazn Poker’s says it all: “Do not tail my bets, I’m an idiot,” his X bio reads.
