Spencer Pratt unloaded on Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass Monday as firefighters battled the explosive Sandy Fire burning through parts of Simi Valley and Ventura County, accusing city leaders of repeating the same failures he says worsened last year’s catastrophic Palisades Fire.
The wildfire ignited near Sandy Avenue in Simi Valley before roaring across dry brush amid fierce Santa Ana winds, sending thick smoke billowing across the region and forcing evacuation orders for thousands of residents.
As firefighters raced to shield homes from the advancing flames, Pratt took to X and blasted Bass in a series of furious posts.
“While Karen Bass is worried about getting meth-heads new grills, the LAFD has 3 dozen LESS firefighters than we had when the Palisades Fire hit,” the former “Hills” star wrote.
“Folks, you need to vote like your life depends on it, because it does.”
Pratt then zeroed in on aerial firefighting operations, citing Ventura County Fire Department comments on the critical need for quick helicopter access to water sources when battling wind-driven fires.
“VCFD PIO says how a quick reflex time for copters to a water source is so critical in the firefight,” Pratt wrote.
“This is what went wrong in the Palisades: Karen Bass drained our reservoir, and instead of 30-second load-and-returns, copters had to fly miles away for water, & the fire escaped.”
The reality TV personality escalated his criticism even further, declaring Bass the worst leader he had ever seen.
“Karen Bass is the worst leader I’ve ever seen. Nobody knew she was out of the country during the Palisades Fire,” he wrote.
“Nobody could order air tankers because her deputy mayor was under house arrest. Her LADWP chief didn’t know our reservoir was empty.”
“Karen Bass is running an absolute CLOWN SHOW. Vote like your life depends on it! Cuz it does!”
Since the deadly Palisades Fire that ravaged Los Angeles, Pratt has become one of Bass’s most outspoken celebrity critics, fueling debate over the city’s readiness for wildfires and its emergency response.
Pratt and his wife, Heidi Montag, lost their home to the Palisades Fire in 2025.
