Sleep expert shares delicious fruit you should eat before bedtime to fall asleep faster

If you find it hard to sleep, you might get really annoyed with yourself – which funnily enough makes it even harder to drift off.

Experts have said that not getting enough sleep because of a bad sleep routine can lead to lots of health problems. It can also make you do worse physically and mentally during the day. And, let’s not forget how grumpy you can feel when you’re tired, reports The Mirror.

But, there is a fruit that you can eat before you go to bed that will make you feel so much better when you wake up in the morning.

The experts at BedKingdom.co.uk have shared why kiwi fruit is a great way to relax before bedtime, and how it can make you feel better in the long run.

They said: “Studies have shown that kiwi fruit can help improve sleep quality, sleep timings, and sleep efficiency after a month of regular kiwifruit consumption before sleep.

“Kiwifruit contains high amounts of serotonin and antioxidants, as well as vitamins like folate, and B vitamin, which can help to treat sleep disorders as well as help reset your sleep schedule.”

Also, if you like to exercise at night, it might be a good idea to change your routine. Studies have shown that the best time to work out is in the morning.

The experts said: “A 2015 study by Yamanaka et al. found that doing lots of exercise before bed messes up the body’s natural rhythm and makes it harder to get to sleep. This then makes it harder to stick to a sleep schedule, as well as making the quality of sleep worse after doing lots of exercise before bedtime.”

“This study found that rapid eye movement (REM) sleep was decreased by 10.5 percent in the people that did lots of exercise before bed.”

“REM sleep is important because it is the time when your brain sorts out your memories, putting things learned during the day into long-term memory, as well as being the time when you dream most clearly.”
