Sky Mobile has dramatically cut prices on Google’s Pixel phones, with monthly costs plummeting to as low as £14, sparking a shopping frenzy for the Android device. Discounts are up for grabs across all Pixel 9 devices, and tech guru Chris Hall, who scrutinises countless phones each year, takes a peek at the specs and sales.
First up is the newest addition, the Pixel 9a. This is Google’s most wallet-friendly model in the Pixel 9 series, launched in April 2025, so it’s hot off the press.
It boasts the same core hardware as the Pixel 9 Pro, providing ample power for snapping photos, gaming or browsing through emails. Sky Mobile has slashed the price to a mere £14 a month, with no upfront cost, making this an economical way to get your mitts on the latest Pixel, according to the Daily Record.
Sky also offers a range of data plans, starting from a staggering £0 a month, but the discounted 50GB plan at just £10 a month is particularly noteworthy. Combined, users will have plenty of data and a top-tier phone to make the most of it, all for a modest £24 a month.
However, buyers should note that if they choose the 50GB data plan, the discount only lasts for six months – therefore, it’s always prudent to double-check before signing up for a long-term plan. While Sky Mobile’s Pixel 9a deal may seem enticing, they’re not the only provider dishing out these competitive prices, reports The Mirror.
Chris scoped out the deals at GiffGaff, which The Mirror rates as one of the networks with top customer satisfaction. They’re offering the Pixel 9a with a hefty 50GB data for just £25.87 a month, and the sweetener is that the price won’t skyrocket after the first 6 months.
Sky Mobile has slashed the price of the Pixel 9 Pro XL to £28 monthly, a tidy drop from the usual £34. Bargain hunters rejoice – that’s a saving of £144 over the contract’s life!
Customers can match the Pixel 9 Pro XL with any amount of data they fancy. It does ask for an upfront cost of £12.
The Pixel 9a comes loaded with features to make tech enthusiasts giddy, boasting a pure Android experience and a promise of seven years of software updates.
Sporting a 6.3-inch screen, the wide bezel might not win everyone’s heart since it’s a budget-friendly option.
Yet, its flat design is a boon for gamers, and Chris found it a trusty companion for day-to-day tasks. He enthused: “The icing on the cake is undoubtedly the camera. Despite only having a dual camera and lacking the zoom feature of the Pro model, the consistency and quality of the photos it produces are unrivalled in this price range.
“Additionally, it provides users with access to Google’s AI, the most exciting feature of which is housed in Magic Editor, making photo editing a breeze. However, as much as I appreciate the Pixel 9a, I find the screen size too small.”
Chris’s top tech recommendation is the Pixel 9 Pro XL, highlighting its generous 6.8-inch screen and vibrant display that makes images look spectacular: “Firstly, it has a larger 6.8-inch display, providing me with ample space for all my apps and games, and it has a wonderfully bright display, so photos look stunning,” he remarked.
Wrapping up his review, Chris added: “Whilst the Pixel 9 Pro XL may not boast the best battery life – for that, you’d be better off with the OnePlus 13 – it does offer an exceptional camera and a clean Android experience. Being the first to receive new Android features truly sets the Pixel apart from its competitors.”
