A popular beach in the UK, which draws visitors from all over the country when it’s sunny, has been named as one of the most ‘complained about’ in the world. A new study by Cloudwards has identified the coastal spots that draw the most criticism from travellers, and one UK beach has made the top 10.

Despite being hailed as ‘beautiful’ by some visitors, Bournemouth beach has emerged as one of the most disappointing beaches in the world. The experts analysed TripAdvisor reviews for 200 of the world’s most popular beaches, uncovering which supposedly idyllic destinations are actually disappointing visitors the most. And this spot in Dorset came in at number five, with people complaining about its cleanliness and how crowded it can be.

It may be one of the UK’s most famous beaches, but according to the experts, it often leaves viewers less than impressed.

There’s seven miles of coastline in Bournemouth, and it’s particularly popular during the summer months when visitors from all over the UK flock to its shores.

But this was one of the major complaints that visitors, had, with a 52% ‘complaint score’ about this issue on TripAdvisor.

The cleanliness of Bournemouth beach also came under fire with 31% of people having negative things to say about it.

Sharing their disappointment, one visitor wrote: “I have been to Bournemouth many times and have enjoyed it. On this occasion, I have never been so dismayed.

“I have never seen so much rubbish left behind by the people using the beach. Food, plates, wrappers, bottles, towels, plastic bags and the list goes on.

“I think the council need to get their act together and start payrolling the beach and either educate, or fine these litterers heavily. It’s a dump.”

However, not everybody had negative things to say about the beach. One visitor couldn’t praise it enough on TripAdvisor, writing: “Beautiful sandy beach, probably the best in the UK! With the sunny weather we are having at the moment it is nicer than Spain!

“The kids had a swim and the water was not too cold. All together Bournemouth is a perfect family seaside escape destination, we plan to return this summer.”

Another commented: “Great beach to visit. Loads to do including; aquarium, shops, pier and food venues.

“Lifeguards available on the beach. Clean and tidy layout, nothing negative that we found. Great facilities close by, would highly recommend.”

And a third said: “This is certainly one of the best beaches I have visited in the UK. We were blessed with beautiful weather so was just lovely to stroll across the sand.”
