A clever food storage trick to keep bananas fresh for a week has been shared by Armen Adamjan, the man behind Creative Explained on TikTok.
He said: “You ever buy bananas and they just ripen up way too fast before you get to eat them? Well, this is what you do.”
He suggests wrapping each banana stem with clingfilm to slow down the ripening process. If you need to speed it up, he advises putting them in the oven for 15 minutes at 350 degrees.
One person said: “Put aluminum foil at the top of the bunch and they last longer (stay ripe).”

Another shared: “Putting bananas in the fridge helps their life span too.”
Someone else advised: “You can use beeswax paper it’s easier to wrap so you don’t have to loop around a ton and you use less. Plus it’s eco-friendly and reusable.”
One more tip was: “Don’t even have to separate them. just wrap the stems well and it will last for over a week!”
Armen has also written two books, ‘Don’t Throw it Out’ and ‘Don’t Throw it Out 2’.

How to keep bananas fresh
Chill bananas in the fridge to stop them getting too ripe. The skin might turn black, but the inside should still be fine to eat.
If you’ve already peeled your banana, try putting lemon juice on it to keep it from going bad. Or, you could dip peeled fruit in vinegar to keep it fresh. Just make sure to wash it well before eating, or it might taste funny.
If you want your bananas to last a really long time, freeze them for up to 30 days. Thaw them out at room temperature – frozen bananas are great in smoothies.
