If you’ve been keeping up with our Royals Unscripted podcast, you’ll know I’m always on the hunt for a fabulous fashion fix, and this gorgeous £68 handbag from British label Fable England might just be my ultimate discovery yet. Princess Catherine has long championed luxury British accessories, repeatedly stepping out with beautifully structured handbags from Aspinal of London, including its iconic Midi Mayfair design, which can set shoppers back several hundreds of pounds.
But I’ve discovered a stunning alternative that delivers the same timeless, ladylike elegance for a fraction of the price, proving you don’t need a royal budget to look like a princess. Founded in 2019, Fable England has become known for its whimsical, nature-inspired accessories and beautifully embroidered designs, but its new Eliza Small Top Handle Bag in Burgundy Croc has completely stolen my heart.
Priced at less than £70, this gorgeous little number lets shoppers save hundreds compared with splashing out on a luxury designer handbag, and I have a feeling Catherine herself would approve.
The first thing that caught my eye was that deliciously rich burgundy shade, which is bang on trend this season and makes the bag look far more expensive than its modest price tag. Crafted from faux crocodile-effect leather, the structured design features elegant gold-tone hardware, a gorgeous floral-print scarf wrapped around its top handle and a chic flap fastening for that all-important designer-inspired finish.
Better still, it comes with a detachable crossbody strap for hands-free styling and an internal slip pocket to keep smaller essentials organised. And if burgundy isn’t quite your cup of tea, the British brand also offers a beautiful selection of whimsical embroidered handbags, perfect for those who adore something a little different.
Personally, I’d style this beauty with a camel wool coat, tailored trousers and knee-high boots for an effortlessly elegant ensemble worthy of Catherine’s wardrobe. With Christmas fast approaching, it would also make a fabulous gift for someone who loves beautiful British accessories, or perhaps a well-earned treat for yourself.
The £68 handbag is currently available to pre-order, with an expected restock date of November 13, so I’d certainly recommend getting it on your radar before the festive shopping rush.
