Shocking footage shows moment car bizarrely crashes in tree in seaside town

Incredible photos show a 4×4 that crashed in a seaside village – and somehow ended up in a tree.

Passersby looked on in disbelief as they saw the black SUV wedged at a near-impossible angle with its rear end held aloft by the branches of a tree whilst its front leaned against a wall.

The crash, believed to have occurred after the driver of the car lost control and hit a lamppost and a tree in the seaside village of Birchington-on-Sea, Kent.

It caused huge delays in the area as emergency services worked to clear the vehicle. However, no one was said to have been seriously injured in the incident.

The car was said to have achieved its precarious and impressive position shortly before 3pm on Tuesday.

Nearby roads were gridlocked whilst the fire service and paramedics worked at the scene.

The residential road where the crash occurred was partially blocked in both directions, with queues stretching back in both directions.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: “I can confirm we were at the scene of an RTC (Road Traffic Collision) involving an overturned vehicle in Kent Gardens, Birchington.”

“The RTC was reported to us shortly before 3pm today.”

A spokesman for Kent Police added: “Kent Police was called to Birchington at around 3pm on Tuesday 13 February, where a car had reportedly collided with a tree in Kent Gardens.”

The Ward Police Officer for the area said the vehicle was later being recovered.

“A single vehicle has collided with a tree and lamppost after the driver lost control, and the vehicle is now being recovered,” they said.

The road was said to have eventually been cleared by around 6.15pm.
