Shaun Bailey dubs Carol Vorderman 'number one bully in the country' after fresh attack

Shaun Bailey has accused Carol Vorderman of being the “number one bully in the country” in an ongoing row between the Tory peer and former Countdown star. The latest salvo comes after Ms Vorderman accused Baron Bailey of Paddington of misogyny after he said she cannot talk about politics if she posts pictures of her “bum and boobs” on Instagram.

Baron Bailey told GB News on Thursday night (January 4) admitted he had expressed himself in a “clumsy way”, but he defended his opinion.

He said: “We are in a country now where we are at each others’ throats and she is the chief architect of that. She’s number one bully in the country (sic).”

Baron Bailey added: “She’s a glitzy, positive celebrity – her Instagram would show – but if you go on her Twitter she is a bully. She has pursued people. She organises pile-ons which create great vitriol and hate.”

The Conservative peer praised Ms Vorderman as a very successful, intelligent woman, but accused her of organising bullying online.

Express.co.uk has approached a spokesperson for Ms Vorderman for comment.

Baron Bailey refused to apologise to Ms Vorderman for his comments about her. The refusal came after the TV star hit back against his comments on X, writing: “Tory Shaun Bailey is a MISOGYNIST #SexistShaun – the Jingle & Mingle Partygate apologist.

“Carol Vorderman tries to be a serious political commentator. But if you look at her on Instagram it’s all pictures of her bum(s) and her boobs. She can’t be both, he grunted on GB News last week.

“So Shaun thinks that women who wear lycra in the gym shouldn’t be allowed a political opinion…. or I assume a vote!

“Failed Mayoral candidate #SexistShaun was made a Lord last year. Yet another Tory honour for dishonour. Pls RT #SexistShaun.”

Baron Bailey refuted Ms Vorderman’s misogyny accusation, saying she should be using her “enormous” platform for good, rather than “tremendous” pile-ons.

X users rushed to defend Ms Vorderman, with one writing in reply to a clip of Baron Bailey’s GB News appearance: “No, @ShaunBaileyUK, she simply pointed out that your comments about her were misogynistic. You insulted her body confident social media posts & disparaged her personality – fact.”

Another X user said: “I have never seen Carol bully anyone only hold this [government] to account. Shaun Bailey however talking about Carol in such derogatory terms is what I’d call bullying.”

A third chimed in: “Hole he’s digging getting bigger by the minute!”
