Scrambled eggs will taste better and ‘won’t be ruined’ when 1 mistake is avoided

A chef has claimed that there’s one mistake home cooks are making when whipping up some scrummy scrambled eggs. Andy Hearnden, better known as Andy Cooks on social media, has been helping people create dishes that are packed full of flavour, proving you don’t need to be an expert to do so.

In a recent TikTok, Andy explained that most people ultimately “ruin” their scrambled eggs with one overlooked step. This mistake arises when it comes to the actual cooking of the eggs, rather than preparing the dish. Andy explained: “The mistake that most people make is that they don’t take them out of the pan soon enough and they overcook because of carryover cooking.”

So how do you avoid overcooking your eggs? Andy suggested: “So hot tip: take them out of the pan about 30 seconds before you think they’re perfect.”

To prepare the dish entirely, Andy prepares his dish by cracking three room temperature eggs in a bowl. Follow by seasoning the eggs with a good amount of salt.

Beat the eggs together well with a fork. Prepare a frying pan with a knob of butter over a medium-high heat.

It’s important to make sure that the pan is heated to the correct temperature. However, Andy advised to make sure that the pan is not too hot.

Pour the eggs into the pan, making sure to continuously mix them with a spatula. Andy instructed to continue with this action until you reach the desired temperature of the eggs.

Following Andy’s advice, when you’re sure that your scrambled eggs are near to perfect, remove them from the pan. Pour the eggs onto a slice of toasted bread, and enjoy.

A number of Andy’s followers were divided by his technique, with Emma saying: “Sorry Andy but if you gave me scrambled eggs like that, I’d hand them back to you. I prefer my scrambled egg to resemble a broken up omelet with a drizzle of brown sauce over them.”

Punahukka agreed: “I need my scrambld eggs to be so incredibly overcooked and dry. The less it looks like eggs the better…”

Mandy commented: “Sorry Andy. Those are way too runny my friend. But! To each their own.”

While Lucia wrote: “Great tips on making perfect scrambled eggs! This will definitely help avoid any mistakes.”
