Not even a winter hurricane can cramp Carrie’s style.
In Thursday’s new episode of “And Just Like That…,” titled “Bomb Cyclone,” the quick-witted fashionista (Sarah Jessica Parker) is the keynote speaker at a widows’ conference, following last season’s death of her husband, Mr. Big (Chris Noth). Trouble is, a monstrous snowstorm has blanketed New York, making it near-impossible to hail a cab or catch a train.
Undaunted, she trudges through the snow-covered streets in true Carrie Bradshaw glamour: wearing a maroon-and-black-striped gray gown, made entirely out of puffer coat material.

“That’s a Moncler,” Parker told USA TODAY before the Hollywood actors’ strike. “That’s like a whole other universe that exists around her. You almost have to get into it like you’re stepping inside of a condominium or something. It’s amazing to wear, and it’s actually much lighter than it appears because it’s quilted nylon. So it’s fairly light and just enormous in volume, but it was really fun.”
Moncler, an Italian fashion brand, first introduced the insulated jacket dresses in 2018. They’ve been worn by stars including Shailene Woodley, Ezra Miller and Millie Bobby Brown on red carpets, with prices starting at roughly $2,200 (but often skyrocketing much higher).
Michael Patrick King, executive producer of the “Sex and the City” sequel series, says the massive hybrid gown required four hangers. “It’s this extravagant, beautiful, over-the-top fashion thing that’s meant to make your jaw drop,” he says. “That’s why it’s there!”
The puffer coat dress is a callback of sorts to Season 6 of “Sex and the City,” when Carrie was stood up in a Paris hotel room wearing a billowing Versace gown. (She wore the dress again in “And Just Like That…” last season.)
“That gown in that little hotel was so impractical, but so thrilling to actually photograph in the show,” King says. “It broke a rule in my mind: Sometimes, reality has to go out the window.”
