Sarah Ferguson's brave four-word response to well wishers following cancer diagnosis

Sarah Ferguson has been focussing on positive thinking as she grapples with her second cancer diagnosis in a year, a friend has claimed.

Just six months ago, Fergie shared the news of her breast cancer battle. She underwent an eight-hour operation last July to remove one of her breasts after doctors discovered the disease in a routine mammogram.

The plucky Duchess has already vowed to turn her “distress into a positive” after being told she has the most serious form of skin cancer.

A close friend of the Duchess said: “She is simply amazing, always looking for the positive in any situation and rarely thinking of herself.

“She is going to beat this disease, just like she faced down her breast cancer diagnosis, with bravery and good humour and working out a way she can use her experience to help others.”

The Duchess was informed about her health shortly after Christmas when she spent time at Sandringham in Norfolk with the Royal family including the King and Queen.

She has since pledged to encourage thousands to get checked before it’s too late in honour of her friend Carolyn Cotterell, who tragically passed away from skin cancer in 1999.

During an emotional discussion with her family, the Duchess pledged to raise awareness about the disease, which also affected her father, Major Ronald Ferguson, before he passed away from a heart attack in March 2003.

Sarah’s diagnosis was announced days after the Royal Family issued a series of unexpected statements on the health of two senior royals.

It revealed that both King Charles and Kate, the Princess of Wales were receiving treatment.

In other news, Buckingham Palace has announced that the King will be having a “corrective procedure” for an enlarged prostate later this week. Queen Camilla reassured fans that her husband was “fine” during a visit to Swindon on Monday.
