Sarah Ferguson has posted a new video message to royal fans on social media today as she celebrates the New Year in Austria.

The Duchess of York, 65, filmed herself talking outside in the cold soon after the clocks turned midnight, with fireworks being heard in the background.

Talking to the camera just less than a week since she spent Christmas at Royal Lodge with ex husband Prince Andrew, Sarah told royal fans that people should continue choosing joy as they head into the new year.

The duchess said: “Hello from Austria. A very, very happy new year to you all and thank you. Just huge gratitude, huge love.

“You can see it’s minus 7 out here. Let’s make joy bubbles and really embrace the love and turn to joy.”

Although the duke reportedly ceased contact with the suspected spy after concerns were first raised, his initial friendship with the businessman – who denies the claims – further deteriorated Andrew’s public image.

This meant that the duke, who said he never shared information of a “sensitive” nature with the suspected sky, decided to withdraw from Christmas at Sandringham, with Fergie also opting not to attend the King’s Christmas festivities in order to to keep her ex husband company.

Their eldest daughter Princess Beatrice, 36, still spent Christmas at Sandringham while their youngest daughter Princess Eugenie, 34, spent the festive holidays with her in-laws.
