Sainsbury's shoppers 'ghosted' by supermarket as delivery disaster ensues again

Sainsbury’s customers have been left in the lurch by the supermarket this morning after it was struck by technical issues.

The supermarket chain was unable to fulfil some delivery slots as a result, leaving shoppers furious, not to mention empty-handed.

A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “A small technical issue affected some groceries online orders this morning. We have contacted these customers directly to apologise for the inconvenience.”

But many customers claimed they had not been contacted in frustrated tweets shared on X, formerly Twitter.

One angered shopper wrote: “Just adding myself to the list of clients expecting a delivery and ghosted by @sainsburys this morning. No order confirmation, no answer to DMs, call centre just hangs up. How does this keep happening??”

One heavily pregnant woman was reportedly affected by the technical disaster, writing: “Sainsbury’s, is your official line to people really ‘just place another order’? I’m almost nine months pregnant and have stayed in for this delivery as can’t get to a big store and finding time to be around is not as easy as that. Feels like a bizarre way to manage your customers?”

The delivery issues today come just weeks after the supermarket was hit by a similar glitch, which saw the majority of online deliveries cancelled back in March.

Previously, the issues left customers unable to pay at supermarket tills too, after company bosses admitted that most online shops would go undelivered.
