Sadiq Khan blasted over latest 'Superflop' after handing militant unions eye-watering £30m

Sadiq Khan has come under fire over proposals to extend a London Underground line with a new bus service.

The Labour politician has pledged to add to the Superloop express bus network as an alternative to the unfunded £10 billion Bakerloo line extension if he wins next month’s London mayoral election.

The London Mayor said in a post on X: “All aboard the Bakerloop! If I’m re-elected – a new express bus will help Londoners get between Elephant and Castle, Old Kent Road, New Cross and Lewisham much more quickly.

“The new Superloop has been a huge success – and this route will mirror the proposed tube extension.”

The bus service would follow the route of the proposed Bakerloo extension which Transport for London (TfL) has failed to secure government funding for.

But Tory London mayoral candidate Susan Hall said: “This Blunderloop is yet another Superflop from Sadiq Khan.

“Instead of delivering the much-needed Bakerloo line extension, Sadiq Khan has decided to settle for a bus.

“Sadiq Khan clearly isn’t listening and after he blew £30million trying to stop the trade unions from striking, it’s no wonder TfL’s finances are in such a state.

“I am listening to Londoners. As Mayor, I will get TfL’s finances back under control, deliver these upgrades, and make our transport network safer.”

The Superloop is a network of 10 express bus routes aimed at improving connections in outer London.

But critics have claimed it was only a rebranding of existing routes and that the network does not serve some areas.
